Cambridge Shakespeare Festival

Cambridge Shakespeare Festival is, as the name implies, a festival of Shakespeare’s plays held annually in Cambridge, UK. 2007 was the 20th anniversary of the Festival which, over the course of the years, has become a significant cultural event in the region.

The festival attracts upwards of 25,000 visitors for the productions which take place over a period of eight weeks in July and August.

2007 saw productions of

  • The Taming of the Shrew – St John’s College Gardens.
  • Hamlet – Girton College Gardens
  • Much Ado About Nothing – King’s College Gardens
  • Romeo and Juliet – Robinson College Gardens
  • The Tempest – Downing College Gardens
  • A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Trinity College Gardens
  • Twelfth Night – Robinson College Gardens
  • Macbeth – Girton College Gardens

Because Cambridge attracts so many tourists in the summer months, the Festival has acquired both a national and international dimension, with the result that many visitors return again and again.
